Páll Sveinsson, TF-NPK in a temporary finish for an airdrop

of unspecified objects at an unspecified location. Both will be released later. Piloting the DC-3 were Tómas Dagur Helgason and Hallgrímur Jónsson (Moni). My pilot was Einar Dagbjartsson flying Cessna 180, TF-KAH.
All of these did a superb job of flying a very difficult and demanding mission, but the photographs would not exist, if it were not for a superb display of bush and formation flying skills by my friend Einar which had the difficult job of keeping station and formating on a plane that had its pilots focusing on their very demanding job of dropping their load in a very specific and small spot.

Flyby. The sun did no cooperate. Unbeliebably this is the whole frame from the camera.

Takeoff for Hella on Saturday July 3.

Takeoff from runway 01 on July 3.

Flying with the cargo door open for practice approaches. The door is blacked out.

This shows how the target area was cloudy and rainy with clear areas all around.

The drop area was rather bleak.

Here the cargo is away.

Cargo clear.

On the way back, we took some photos from the other side. This is a full frame shot.

This is also a full frame shot.

This one is cropped a bit. Note how the white covering flows over on the rudder and the fin fillet.

A lucky shot with the blinker on the tail lighting at the time of the shutter release.

A cropped shot from the left.

On the way to Hella.

Still on the way to Hella. Time is 23:10

Still on the way to Hella. Time is still 23:10 and the gear is starting to come down. Did a little darkening of the sky in front.

On a long leg to Hella.

Turning on to final approach. Interesting view.

Still turning on to final approach. Interesting view.

Now we are almost behind as the turn to final is about to finish.

On final. A good flight.
