The Turtle was specially modified for long distance flights without refuelling.
On September 29, 1946 it took off from Perth, Australia and flew to Columbus, Ohio, a flight of 11236 statute miles in 55 hours and 17 minutes.
It now resides at the Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola, Florida.
