SP-2H, 14???? LQ-3 1000 pixels A beautiful photo by David Wilding of one of the VP-56 Neptunes that relieved VP-21 at Rota, Spain in July 1967. The BuNo can't be seen but from other sources I suspect it should be 141235 which according to my info was LQ-3 from sometime in 1966 to at least August 9, 1967. Any information on the correct BuNo, which definately starts with 1483 and the fourth number has to be a 5 according to the magnifying glass. The insignina on the nose is not the VP-56 one, but has a crown on it, like a RAF or a RCAF one. Any help appreciated. Update 21. March 2005 The picture of LQ-7 top right on your site was taken at Brezzy Point NAS Norfolk. VP-56's hangar is to the right and out of the picture. VP-56 barracks are in the background. I believe the complete BuNo is 148352. The picture had to have been taken in 1961 before the 1962 Iceland deployment. See 148352

New October 19, 2002 The photo was taken in early September 1962 as the squadron was enroute from Brunswick to Norfolk heading home from the 1962 Rota Spain deployment. The three aircraft in sequence are 145908, 145920 and 145905. FYI, I'm driving the last one - don't remember which crew took the photo but they were the ones who flew individually until we rendezvoused for a 9 plane flyover of NAS Norfolk.
