Warm summer days, the blue waters off NAS Roosevelt Roads, being frozen in time tracking a ship, always young, at least in our pictures, and in our mind's eye – no matter how clouded that eye may become in the present day – forever young! SP-2H,
145914. ![]() 1000 pixels ![]() 1000 pixels Photos taken at NAS Brunswick in August 1965 by David Wilding. The BuNo on these photos is not easy to decipher, but comparing it to the photo to the right it is almost certainly 145914. Having the US flag on the fin, was at this time an almost certain indication that the airplane was participating in the Latin American UNITAS ASW excercises. The photo to the right bears very graphic evidence as to the overpainting of the flag. In fact I had for a long time been wondering about the position of the LJ so low on the tail and what had been overpainted. The airplane in the bacground is almost certainly 147963, which had the side number 11 in January 1965. New October 5, 2004 The BuNo 145914 was confirmed by David Wilding |
