This is a beginners’ course. The course will provide the student with a general introduction to the Spanish language and its sound system, pronunciation and functional vocabulary related to everyday life. It provides students with cultural information related to the Spanish Speaking countries, and basic grammatical rules. The emphasis will be on the acquisition of four skills: listening, speaking, reading and limited writing skills. Students will learn the present tense, regular and irregular verbs, as well as reflexive verbs, pronouns, and adjectives. The course level is at A1 according to The Common European Framework of References for Languages.

The main objectives of the course are to give the students the ability to carry out a simple conversation, and provide the student with a basic understanding of the Latin American and Spanish culture, vocabulary, and grammatical concepts.
