Þýsk1ÞB05 – German 2

Prerequisites:

Successful completion of the course German 1 or equivalent or instructor approval upon completion of a placement test.

In this course, students are expected to further their knowledge gained in the course German 1. The course is designed to allow students to use and add to their knowledge acquired in the previous course, especially listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. The emphasis is on perfecting pronunciation, mastery of the basic grammatical rules, and increased communicative proficiency. Acquisition of functional vocabulary is expected. Students will study the present tense, the past perfect tense, and prepositions. Students will be expected to apply the different tenses in writing and speaking. The course level is at A1- A2 according to The Common European Framework of References for Languages.

The main objectives of the course are to give the students the ability to carry out a simple conversation in familiar circumstances, and continue to deepen the students’ vocabulary, and use of grammatical concepts as well as intercultural understanding.
