Successful completion of the courses German 1, 2 and 3 or equivalent or instructor approval upon completion of a placement test.
In this course, students are expected to further their knowledge gained in the courses German 1, 2 and 3. The course is designed to allow students to use and add to their knowledge acquired in the previous courses. In this course, the main focus will be on oral expression as well as improving students’ listening, reading and writing skills. New themes are introduced and students will continue to work on task-based projects based of their interest. Students will continue to work with aspects of traditions and cultures of German Speaking countries as well as topics that relate to their everyday lives, interests, and surroundings. Students will study adjectives and the past subjunctive. Students will be expected to use these tenses correctly in writing and oral expression. The course level is at A2 – B1 according to The Common European Framework of References for Languages.
The objectives of the course are to continue to extend grammatical concepts learned in the courses German 1-3, and further develop and refine language fluency as well as successfully operate technology applicable to classroom activities.
